Hello again movie people. If you love action movies, then this spring and summer will be quite enjoyable for you since there will be a ton of movies to watch. Here are just a few to keep an eye on.
Opening up the summer blockbuster season will be Fast and the Furious 8 which comes to Korea on April 14th. This franchise has been entertaining audiences for the past 15 years. If you like fast cars, women in bikinis, over the top fights with absurdly over the top car action sequences, then this movie is for you. Despite the franchise being around for so long, it shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, Fast and the Furious 7 made more money than any of the other previous movies. However, this movie will obviously be without Paul Walker, who died and got a proper send off a in the last movie. I would still expect this movie to be fun, even for the people who are not really into fast cars.
A few weeks later Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 will open on April 28th. This will be the first Marvel movie of the year and I doubt it will disappoint with its blend of sci-fi action and comedy. In fact Guar-dians of the Galaxy is my favorite Marvel movie. I showed the first movie to my wife and parents, who hate comic book movies, and they loved it. However, when I assigned this for homework in an English conversation class, the students didn't like it very much. I was told that they didn't get all of the jokes since it was based on Ame-rican humor and the translation wasn't very good. Still it stars Chris Pratt and I have high hopes for the movie and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
A few weeks later Wonder Woman will open on June 2nd. This will actually be the first female solo movie, despite comic book movies being made for almost 20 years. This is a DC comic book movie and they desperately need a win since their last 4 movies have not made a lot of money. Since they are making a Justice League movie next year, the DC version of the Avengers, they really need this one to be a win. Unlike Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, they have not rushed the script and it stars some great actors and directors. If this movie does well then I think we can see more DC comic book movies in the future. If it doesn't then I think it will be a while since we see any more movies after Justice League from the DC universe.
Another sequel from a surprisingly good movie, Kingsman: the Golden Circle will open on June 16th. When the first movie came out in 2015, I actually didn't see it in the theaters since I thought it would be just a James Bond rip-off. I was wrong and this movie was great, which is just one reason not to trust my advice completely. The movie had action and comedy and was one of the best films that year. The sequel promises to be even better and I promise that I will actually see this in the theater this time.
Finally the last movie to watch for this summer is the new Spiderman movie named Spiderman: Homecoming. Before you say, "Not another Spiderman movie, how many of these things are they going to make?" I hear you, but the good news is that this movie will not be made by the people who brought you the last three Spiderman movies. It will be made by the people at Marvel who brought you the Avengers. In fact that's why it was such a big deal when he showed up in Captain America Civil War last year. Also it will have Tony Stark and other characters from the Marvel universe. I doubt that this movie studio will make the mistakes of the previous one.
This summer will see some of the biggest action movies and I have high hopes that they will deliver on their promises. There are more movies that I didn't include on this list including King Arthur, Transformers, Planet of the Apes, Dunkirk, and many others. I hope all of you stay cool this summer and check out these great films.
